About Midside Sessions
The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.
Hello fellow music lovers! MidSide Sessions is a Brisbane based music company that strives to bring you the best up and coming acts that Brisbane and her surrounds has to offer. The project was started by three students attending SAE Institute Brisbane who all shared a passion for music. Specifically live music. With this in mind they created MidSide Sessions to realise a dream of showcasing great acts live in a studio environment.
We have recently revamped the site (the back end that is. So even though it doesn’t look like Alex has actually been doing anything, he actually has) and you now have the ability to support the bands we record. For $10 you will get an artists entire MidSide Session, individual Song Videos and 320Kbps MP3’s of each song. The best part is we will be splitting the money 50/50 with the artists! You will be helping to support us, new bands, and the Brisbane music scene!
Sarah is the musical genius with all the connections. Sarah is currently taking a break to focus on her own productions and to teach guitar to future prodigies.
G'day, How's it going?
Alex is the fellow who knows what all those little buttons do. No he won’t show you right now.
Ric is the guy with the hip hop mojo. Ric is currently taking a break and is focusing on his wonderful family.
What we do.
After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible, is music.
The aim of the live studio sessions is to capture the artist as they are. No aftermarket accessories, no touch ups or re-do’s. What you see is what you get. By capturing the set this way we get a true representation of the artist and their music. The way they want it to be heard.
By using industry leading equipment we are able to acquire the best possible sound from our performers. By embracing the live feel of the sessions we hope to put you in the front seat, as if you were at the gig. Scroll further down to check out some sweet sweet music.
Music, in performance, is a type of sculpture. The air in the performance is sculpted into something.
Live studio sessions is one of our passions most definitely. This doesn’t mean we don’t like recording a good ol’ fashioned EP or album. We are more than welcoming of prospective clients looking to record. Hit us up!
We have different expertise when it comes to producing records. Alex is the indie head (hipster) Sarah is the one with actual musical knowledge and Ric is the guy to see about anything hip hop. We want to work with you to help capture your sound the way you hear it.
Every age has its storytelling form, and video gaming is a huge part of our culture. You can ignore or embrace video games and imbue them with the best artistic quality. People are enthralled with video games in the same way as other people love the cinema or theatre.
We are all gamers here at MidSide Sessions. We have experience working with audio for games, be it foley, sound design, musical score, voice over or anything else you can imagine we can definitely help you out.
Naturally Alex is a big fan of indie games (see again: Hipster) and is keen to get stuck into the next indie classic. Ric and Sarah albeit not as keen on the indie side of things are still enthralled by all things audio and are always here to assist on any game audio related projects.
A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.
Who doesn’t watch movies or TV? Yeah that’s what I thought. Here at MidSide sessions we are avid film enthusiasts. Employing videographers pretty much conditions you to be a film nut. We offer various forms of sound recording for film, just give us a holla.
We also do post production for films. Same as for games; foley, sound design, ADR, musical score (composition and recording) and maybe even a little editing (not our forte but we know people). If you are getting hung up after shooting we can help straighten you out.
